The legend says that Bond Street in Noho has received its name from a dash of queerness. At the beginning of the 18th century, a famous banker named Samuel Ward lived in a sumptuous mansion at the corner of Broadway and the side street without name.
Why not give the via a name which would remind the profession of the banker, he thought Samuel Jones, a local attorney involved in many causes, who had called the Great Jones Street with your name? So Bond Street was named as a certifying debt and soon became the seat of the merchants and entrepreneurs, most rich New York, who built neo-renaissance palaces and roman-style along its banks.
Many of these buildings are still there.
Their spacious interiors have been converted into offices when the area became the district manufacturing of lighting at the end of the 19th century. Still quite majestic in proportion, Bond is today the quintessence of the downtown art underestimated, of theatre, fashion and food.
Here Sophocles and Ibsen are home (among other readings in the program of Jean Cocteau Repertory staged at the Bouwerie Lane Theatre). The headquarters of the perfumeries Bond No. 9 is here. The Gene Frankel Theatre has a house on the Bond, together with Selima, Paul & Joe, as well as The Hole (tuscan food of the farm) and the much sought-after Bond Street sushi den.
The type of guy that dwells on Bond Street is one that does not follow the mass.
And' the artist, like the books, is an intellectual.
Her wardrobe follows the seasons of the Ralph Lauren and Harris Tweeds.
But do not be fooled by these ways searched. He also knows how to be bold. Imagine a cup of a strong infusion of the herb, with the essences of citrus invigorating and violet mixed together.
Flavors of fresh... but also strong. Heated the whole thing with a durable base of wood sandalwood, smooth and seductive. To adhere perfectly to your skin, to your clothes and also your partner, for hours to come.
This is Chez Bond.
